Count Victor Vyrdelek is a traditional Transylvanian vampire, keen to uphold the ancient ways of his kind and stay out of the limelight.  So why is he so interested in Tiffany Golden, a modern vampire and a political activist? Tiffany is a feisty newly formed vampire, full of opinions and modern beliefs.  To make matters worse she is campaigning for the president, Felix O’Neill –also her lover -- by enlisting the votes of the vampire community, with the help of Count Victor, if he agrees.  But the Count fears she is destroying everything he is striving for, with her plans to promote tourism in Romania, abolishing stereotypical bloodsuckers and including the undead in the government’s benefit program.  Will he convince Tiffany to scrap her modern day philosophy and live a proper, conventional vampire life?  Or will she, with her beauty and adverse views, manage to change him into her ideal contemporary vampire?

 

I am a Vampire and I Count is a short, scintillating, sensual, scream of a read.  Each character is given the chance to air their views, be it of traditional or modern day values.  I found reading this book hazardous to my health, as I could hardly breath for laughing so much! Where else would you find a sex-crazed werewolf Alpha named Constantin and Ingrid, a were-Maltese dog with a vegetarian diet?  It is a cleverly written fantasy story where, as it unfolds, a much deeper meaning is revealed.  Dealing with issues that make you think, laugh and bring tears to your eyes, proves Jackie Rose is a talented author with an ingenious imagination.
