"Wilderness” is a remarkable love-story about Alice White, a young frightened woman who carries a very dark secret: she changes into a wolf every full moon. This secret dominates her entire life ever since it began when she was 13 years old. Therefore, she deliberately rejects every emotional contact with men besides one-night stands. The only person who knows about her transformation is her psychiatrist, who actually doesn’t believe her but is willing to help only because he has his own secret agenda.
One day she meets her new professor Erik Summers and she falls in love for the first time. She is reluctant to tell him her secret but finally she succumbs to her intense feelings and tells him the truth…
The unfortunate Alice finally seems to find her true happiness only to have it taken away again by the exact same thing that prevented her from being happy in the past.
Wilderness is a very captivating book and a real page-turner. I loved the suspense, the romantic atmosphere and its very surprising end.
