Kiss Me Forever ~ Rosemary Laurey  (Book One)

As I came to the end, shut the book and sighed, I felt like I’d lost a couple of friends…Dixie and Kit make the perfect couple, in this memorable romance.

Out of curiosity Dixie LePage travels from her home in South Carolina to Bringham, a small English village, to visit a house she inherited from her grandmother. Being on another continent, in an idyllic village, with a new fortune seemed the ideal opportunity to make space between her ex-fiancé, get over her grandmother’s death and fix her twice-broken heart.

She hadn’t counted on falling for a gorgeous; broad shouldered Christopher Marlowe who claimed to be the same man as the famous playwright and contemporary of William Shakespeare.  Both of whom have been dead for hundreds of years.  Christopher, (Kit to his friends) is a sensual, caring vampire who becomes equally besotted with Dixie; a sceptic, who must recognise the truth, before it’s too late. Will Kit ever come to terms with loving a mere mortal? After all, she’ll grow old and die, whilst Kit’s pain would go on for eternity. If only they could be together, forever.

Despite this, more trouble is brewing in Bringham. It has something to do with the previous occupants, two eccentric great aunts from the Underwood side of her family whom she’d never met. They’d built up an extensive library of books on witchcraft and the occult, belonging to their father, a retired colonel from the Indian Army. Deciding to investigate further, Dixie moves into her newly acquired lodgings and extends her holiday.  Oblivious to the fact that her family solicitor, Sebastian Caughleigh and his nephew James know more than they are letting on.  By Abel!

Mr. Caughleigh has his own reasons for wanting to disrupt Dixie’s plans and send her back on the next plane home. As a coven leader, Sebastian abuses his position and uses witchcraft against Ms. LePage and Kit, with the help of his witches, Sally, Ida and nervous Emily.  Sebastian is determined to do anything in his power to defend the Underwood’s secrets from being exposed, killing anyone who stands in his way. Including Dixie if needs be.

Luckily Kit becomes Dixie’s protector, and with the support of his good friends, Dr. Justin Foruvs, Tom Kyd and the rest of their colony, they join forces to attempt to stop the evil Mr. Caughleigh, and his strengthening coven from ruining Dixie’s life. Will they stop the murderous solicitor in time?

Kiss Me Forever is an exciting, contemporary vampire tale with a new slant of the ancient vampire legend. Believe me when I say "this is one of the most enjoyable paranormal/vampire romance books I have ever read!" Ms. Laurey’s characters pulled me so deep into their story, my outside world ceased to exist for a couple of days.  I loved the way Dixie was a lost American, having to cope with our alien British ways and the dialect of those who live up north! Kiss Me Forever is filled with everything I love in a paranormal romance; a detailed plot with lip-licking sex scenes, descriptive settings I could lose myself in and a gutsy female lead I wished I could be. As I came to the end, shut the book and sighed, I felt like I’d lost a couple of friends, Dixie and Kit. Wondering how their alternative relationship would last under pressure, and what I’d do without the suave presence of smooth talking Doctor Justin Forvus (whose charming character I adored). Well, as you know, this book comes in two parts.  Kiss Me Forever is followed by Love Me Forever.  So I snacked on something quick, and sat down to read the next book in this series.   Imagine my whooping noises (of excitement) as I discovered the return of Doctor Forvus, and a couple of old friends!

Love Me Forever ~ Rosemary Laurey  (Book Two)

Justin and Stella’s romance will blow you away!

Dr. Justin Corvus was a regimental surgeon in the ninth Roman Legion Hispania, now living as an old master vampire in England, running a medical practice. He takes a trip to German village in Columbus, Ohio to meet with his old friend Kit Marlowe and his wife Dixie.  It’s a trip that changes his whole way of thinking forever.

Dixie has successfully opened up a tiny shop named the Vampire’s Emporium.  The very place where Sam Schwartz drags his single mother Stella to, with the hope of buying a vampire costume for the Beggars Night festivities.

From the moment delicious Dr.Corvus set eyes on Stella, he knew she was the one for him.  But how could he tell her what he was, a vampire with a lust for blood.  Could he keep such a big secret from the woman he loved if he intended to spend the rest of his days with her? Swamped with confusion, Dr. Justin Corvus realises he is about to break one of the very rules of the colony he had originally helped set up.  Loving a mortal is not only against vampire law, it is vital for the protection of his own kind.  Unfortunately, Stella, the woman he had set his sights on, and her son, are both plain human, and have worries of their own. Like staying alive in a rough area of town.

Later, Vlad Tepes, (Dracula) summons Justin for their scheduled meeting, where they negotiate for the New World vampire colony’s territory.  Vlad is the same man who stole Justin’s first love Gwylthwa, and to make matters worse, he is now making ghouls. What would Gwylthwa say if she knew? For making ghouls also goes against the rules of the vampire colony.

However, something shocking happens to Stella that forces him to make an agonising decision. Should he turn her into a vampire (which she might not be very pleased about) or let her die, risk losing her forever?

Love Me Forever is an enthralling sequel, which I first feared would not match up to its previous successor. It did, in more ways than one.  Justin and Stella’s characters really shone through. As their relationship developed I realised I’d found a new romance to revel in.  My old friends, Kit and Dixie were still going strong, too!  There are many issues to consider when writing about the ‘precise’ version of Dracula, and all the ins and outs of ancient vampire life in modern day times.  However, Ms. Laurey has successfully amalgamated realistic characters with a modern plot to ensure a creative read with a great ending. Justin and Stella’s romance may have complications, but its authenticity (under vampire conditions) will blow you away.
