Howling Bloody Murder introduces the readers to half-Washoe Elsie MacBean, better known as Beanie, and her basset dog Cruiser..

When Beanie and Cruiser go for a walk in Cave Rock they discover a dead body. One with a face like it had just seen a ghost or something extremely frightening. The Times asks her to write an article about the murder and her friend , Skip Cassidy, who works for the Sheriff asks her to help him in this case, which she is more than willing to do.

It doesn't stay with one dead person though, as more are soon to follow. They all seem to have something in common. They work for Tallis. Tallis is the company that wants to turn Cave Rock into a new Cave Rock Resort and Casino. But the Washoe Indians are fully against it as it is considered as sacred ground to them.

Together with Skip, Beanie and Cruiser try to find out who is behind these murders, or what... As all evidence seems to point at some kind of animal. And locals have reported seeing a large animal in the shadows. But an animal that steels a shoe of the victim? An animal that looks like a dog but has the size of a bear plus that glows in the dark? It just seems all too strange..

Sue Owens Wright has written a wonderful, entertaining and comical beginning to a new mystery series starring Beanie and Cruiser. It's written in a very cute way, a style that dog lovers will surely enjoy. I want a waggling basset dog too now! I found the story to be very unique, very original and definitely exciting until the very last page! If I was a dog I'd be wagging my tail for more treats by this author! You might not be familiar with Sue Owens Wright or the publisher Deadly Alibi but don't let that stop you from trying out this book. You will find Sue Owens Wright and this series to be a discovery, trust me!
