Will hears a woman shouting, she's in the river and in trouble. If he doesn't jump in quickly...

The story begins with Will saving Lilly from drowning in the Rappahannock River. It's the year 1865, we're near Fredericksburg. The Civil War is at its end, but the consequences are still everywhere to see. Ruins where houses used to be and lots of people are still missing.

Alice and Lilly are thrilled that Will is still alive as they’d both assumed he was dead. Happiness seems to find its way back in their lives. Alice is getting married to Colonel William Jackson while Amanda is already married to Major  Samuel Prescott. It's difficult to maintain harmony in their lives but they all stay together. They are family above all. But it seems that Will has something from the past that he has to deal with...

Glory and Promise is the third and final book from the Civil War trilogy written by Kim Murphy. Just like the second book (Honor and Glory), Glory and Promise is a love story about people trying to survive after a war, a war that's still in their hearts. It's about love and trust but also about dealing with the past and learning to look at the future without fear. I think that Glory and Promise is a very good conclusion to this series with a great ending. Once again Kim Murphy shows us that she can write about Civil War and about people’s feelings and needs like no one else can, at least not in this combination. This is definitely a heart-touching story!
