Singer McLaine is a talented young undercover investigator with an uncanny knack for blending into any situation. The latest case her adoptive father/boss has chosen for her involves finding two missing detectives. She studies the case preparing to begin, but with just one glance at the picture of one of the two missing men Singer knows in her heart that finding this man is going to change her destiny. For Detective Evan Wolcott sees through the disguise at first glance and knows Singer is not a boy, and even more so feels an instant connection to his intriguing rescuer. Fate is cruel however and misunderstandings cause problems.

Time has passed and Singer is asked to take part in a dangerous undercover operation to catch a murderer. Problem is Evan and his partner are on the case as well, and part of the assignment requires a marriage between Singer and Evan. Now despite the hard feelings between them, these two must appear to be in love or it could mean death for them all.

If you are looking for a typical romantic adventure tale where boy-meets-girl sparks fly and they'll work together to solve some minor issue before ending up happily ever after... look elsewhere. This tale has some of those attributes but the issues these two face are far from minor. Singer is a wonderful character, complex and well formed. And the story itself is unusual and entertaining. There are twists and surprises thrown out at every turn and it will keep you both interested and guessing at the outcome. So if you are after something with more substance than a typical romance pick this one up!
