“This is an endearing and hilarious tale of one woman tottering around in someone else’s Manolo Blahnik stilettos, only to find the high life is not quite what it seems”.
Jenny Brown often feels as dreary as her name, that is, until one Monday night she makes a wish to trade places with popular Monica Starke -- envy of every woman who had the displeasure of meeting her. When it happens Jenny doesn’t know what to think. Has she been kidnapped, had plastic surgery forced upon her and been whisked off to recover in a fancy place or was a rich fairy godmother, or TV reality show producer to blame? Who cares, when your bust size has just increased threefold and no longer resembles a couple of beestings? Jenny’s transformation into a blonde beauty should have been a wish come true, but in no time at all, Jenny realises Monica life is far from the idyllic dream she has always been jealous of. It’s in need of a few changes, and so, whilst living inside Monica’s body, wearing magnificent designer clothes and shoes, Jenny decides to sort out Monica’s troubles. Beginning with the biggest problem of them all, cruel ex-boyfriend Jason Foxx. The man cancelled all her credit cards and repossessed the car he bought Monica as a gift. She should know, it was her (Jenny) he left stranded because of it! What kind of man puts a woman in so much danger? She didn’t know, but was soon going to find out, and planned to tell him exactly what she thought of his nasty, conniving tricks.
It turns out Jenny’s role as the good Samaritan, is far from easy, and she has Jason worked out all wrong, he’s really a kind, generous guy and as Foxy as his name! Unfortunately, she cannot give into temptation as Jason belongs to the real Monica. To add to her frustration, Jason is reluctant to have anything to do with self-centred whiney Monica who has wrecked his life and then dumped him once he stopped handing out the cash. A few dates later, Jason finds Monica is acting rather strange. It seems she has received a personality transplant overnight. Before long, he becomes attracted to the new Monica all over again and can’t resist giving her one more chance. That is, until he bumps into the anomalous Jenny Brown, and discovers there is much more to her than he first thought.
The moral of the story ‘About Monday’
is the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence and when there
are two women and only one man someone is going to lose out. But who? I adored
the lovable and very funny character, Jenny. She knows she can’t hide behind her
false persona forever, and despite the total body swap, the sexual chemistry
between her and Jason is even harder to disguise. This is an endearing and
hilarious tale of one woman tottering around in someone else’s Manolo Blahnik
stilettos, only to find the high life is not quite what it seems. It’s to
Sydney Laine Allan’s credit that this paranormal romance ‘About Monday’
has been deployed so naturally she’s succeeded in writing an entertaining,
memorable comedy romance, I shan’t forget in a hurry. It’s one of the rare
books where my husband actually turned the telly up ~ to drown out my bursts of
laughter! I will never look at Monday’s the same way, ever again!
