| Interview: Eve Vaughn
Introduction:
Past:When did you start thinking about becoming a writer and when? Did you follow writing courses for it? I think I’ve always wanted to be a writer. When I was younger, I used to write short stories for myself and it gradually progressed. I never took a writing course although I’m taking one now to improve me skill.
How did it all start? I wrote my first book when I was 13. LOL. It was about two teenagers in crisis who discover they were in love. That story was never saw the light of day, but I kept writing stuff for myself. I told a friend that I wrote, and she was interested in seeing my stuff. She liked it so much, she encouraged me to submit and I did. I had three completed manuscripts, Raven’s Calling, which I submitted to Changeling Press, GianMarco’s Muse I submitted to Loose-id and A Night To Remember, I submitted to Liquid Silver Books. Imagine my surprise when all three publishers contracted me within a couple weeks of each other. It was like a dream.
Now:What is the average time you spend in writing a book? It really depends on the length of the book. It could be anywhere between a couple weeks to a couple of months. It also depends on how complicated I want the storyline to be.
What does a regular working day writing looks like? Since I work a full time job, I generally do my writing at night before I go to bed and on the weekend. I put my headphones on and I sit at my desk and I stay there for at least two hours.
Do you plan before you write, write everything down in schemes? Sometimes, but I find when I do outlines, the story turns out differently then what I planned when I actually start writing it.
What is on your schedule right now? Right now I’m working on Blood Brothers 2 which will be coming out with Loose id and a story for a wonderful summer series coming out with Changeling Press, so needless to say, I’m keeping busy.
You and your books:Are your ideas or characters based on real persons? Yes, a lot of my characters and plot ideas are drawn from people I know and experiences I’ve either gone through or others have shared with me. I think it makes the story more “real”.
What book of yours means the most to you? A Night To Remember, because it was the very first erotic romance story I wrote, so it’s closest to me heart.
Too many to name off the top of my head but to name a few authors, Marilyn Lee, Camille Anthony, Stephanie Burke, Christine Feehan, Emma Holly, Marlene Suson, Mary Balogh, Angela Knight, Jet Mykles, Connie Mason, Johanna Lindsey, Mary Jo Putney, Sandra Kitt... the list goes on and on, LOL I think my favorite genre to read is Regency historicals although I haven’t written one and probably won’t attempt to, because I don’t want to screw it up, LOL, not to say I won’t consider it in the future. My favorite stories to write are contemporaries because it’s easier to stay consistent and I seem to write them fastest. Paranormals are fun to write too because you get to make stuff up.
